3rd Edition · 19–20 December

This Edition's topics are finally out…!

And as the formidable UNGDS team, no — we certainly did not choose the usual “climate change, international security, blah blah blah”. We wanted you to leave committee knowing something you definitely did not know before. Study guides and chair identities have not been revealed yet.

Committee 01Beginner

UNICEF

United Nations Children's Fund

UNICEF is where you learn the rules of procedure without anyone ever making you feel small about it. — full member-state participation, patient chairs, and debate that actually matters: children in conflict, education access, child health and protection.

  2. 2Child Protection Systems for Khmer boys, in Southeast Asia

Committee 02Intermediate

WHO

World Health Organization

You have delegated before, or at least survived a crisis. WHO rewards delegates who can hold data and diplomacy in the same sentence.  — outbreak response, health equity, access to medicine, and the politics that decide who gets treated first.

This edition's topics

  1. 1Strengthening Global Systems for the Prevention, Reporting, and Investigation of Stillbirths
  2. 2Preventing antimicrobial resistance from becoming a crisis, in Latin America

Good fit if

Committee 03Expert

ISA

International Seabed Authority

Deep-sea mining, the common heritage of mankind, and an ocean floor nobody has finished mapping. The ISA is niche, technical and gloriously under-debated — which means no recycled speeches, no copy-paste blocs, and every clause you write has to be defended. Expert delegates only, and you will be pushed.

This edition's topics

  1. 1Protecting Marine Ecosystems from the Unintended Consequences of Human Activity in the High Seas
  2. 2Establishing International Protection for Cetacean Migration Corridors

Good fit if

  • Veterans bored of the same three committees
  • Legal, environmental and resource-policy nerds
  • Anyone who wants an award that means something
